Music Courses at Mount Douglas

The Mount Douglas music program offers a variety of musical experiences to students attending Mount Doug. We presently have:

• 2 concert bands (Grade 9 and senior),
• 2 jazz bands (Junior and Senior),
• a choir,
• and a strings group.

Each spring, the Musical Theatre Department puts on a musical, and the pit orchestra is made up of students from Mount Douglas music classes.

Getting involved in the music program at Mount Douglas is a great way to be part of performing ensembles that play a variety of challenging and satisfying music! The concert bands play at least four school concerts per year, and the jazz bands have many opportunities to play as well - including the infamous "Jazz and Java" night which takes place in late May. The Mount Douglas choir, in addition to performing at school functions and concerts, has had opportunities to perform outside the school in a number of venues.

BEGINNERS - Have you always wondered what it's like to play a musical instrument, but never had the chance? Join the Mt. Douglas Beginners Band Course! You too can play a wind instrument! The course will focus on music fundamentals, beginning music theory, and wind instrument fundamentals.
