Graduation Transitions
B.C.'s Graduation Program - What parents and students need to know
- As of September 2007, Graduation Transitions replaces the Graduation Portfolio Assessment found in
the original 2004 graduation program. Graduation Transitions is intended to prepare students for a
successful transition to life after school.
- Students, enrolled in Grade 10, 11 or 12 in September 2007 must demonstrate they have met the
following requirements for
Personal Health - maintain a personal health plan and participate in at least 150 minutes/week of
daily physical activity (DPA), IN ADDITION TO PE10. Log your DPA minutes at
www.learnnowbc.ca.
Community Connections - participate in at least 30 hours of work experience and/or
community service and describe what was learned.
Career and Life - develop a comprehensive plan that indicates preparation to successfully
transition from secondary school to post secondary or work or travel.
- Graduation Transitions is worth 4 mandatory credits, it is not possible to graduate with out it.
- The booklets required to complete the Graduation Transitions are available in the Counseling Alcove or from the links below:
- View or download the Assessment Rubric.
- Support and materials are available daily in the Counseling Alcove. Completed booklets may be
submitted to Mr. Verhagen or Mrs.Prevost for evaluation and recording by the following dates:
- Grad Transition Plan is due February 2, 2010.
- Work Experience forms due on or before May 14, 2010.
- Logging of DPA should continue until June.
