Some quick facts about Mount Douglas Secondary School.
During the 2008 - 2009 school year:
- Total enrolment was 1,040 students plus 85 international
students from 12 countries
- There are over 180 students enrolled in our ESL program
- The District Challenge Program at Mount Doug has over 200 students
enrolled
- There are 65 full and part time teachers with a total of 90
teaching and support staff working at Mount Douglas
- 9 out of 10 of the top Provincial Scholarship student scores in the
entire Greater Victoria School district were achieved by Mount Douglas
students.
- Almost 33% of our students participate in inter-school athletics.
- Mount Douglas students received over 40% of the scholarships
awarded in our school district.
- 54 students received University of Victoria Entrance Scholarships
- Mount Douglas has two sister school agreements - one with a school
in Avignon, France and the other with a school in Morioka, Japan.
Students are regularly involved in exchange to and from our sister
schools.
- Student travel is a key feature of the learning opportunities for
our students with travel this year and in past years to New York, Italy,
Costa Rica, France and Japan.
- Mount Douglas continues to participate in the annual International
Education Forum held in Morioka, Japan.
- From our January 2009 Provincial Exam results, 10 students scored 100%, 11 students scored 99% and 5 students scored 98%.
- From our June 2009 Provincial Exam results, 4 students scored 100%, 6 students scored 99% and 12 students scored 98%.
