Student Transfer Process: Feb 18-Feb 26, 2010


NOTE: Students NEW to the Greater Victoria School District need to follow the steps outlined under New Applicants to Mount Doug.

The Student Transfer Process is meant to accommodate students in attending their school of choice. Students currently enrolled in the Greater Victoria School District who want to move to a school outside of their designated family of schools must complete the Student Transfer Application Form (see below).

The Process - Student Transfer Application Form

The following steps are necessary to transfer:

  1. Complete the Student Transfer From which will be available at all schools on Feb. 18. Parents must date and sign the form.
  2. Request an appointment to meet with the Principal of the secondary school you are currently attending or would be designated for to inform them of your intent to transfer. You do not need to call or meet with the Principal at the school you are requesting to transfer to.
  3. Parents mail or deliver the completed Student Transfer Form to the School District office by Feb 26, 2010.

Transfer requests are reviewed with school space in mind, and students receive written confirmation from the district office by March 31, 2009. When students complete a transfer, they will be considered members of the new Family of Schools.

Special Note to Students of Mount Doug Wishing to Transfer to Another Secondary School

Make an appointment to see the principal (Dr. Fawcett) or one of the vice-principals (Mr. House or Mr. Mitchell) to inform the administration of the intent to transfer. Do not contact the receiving school. Complete the Student Transfer Form and submit it to the School District Office by Feb 26, 2010.

Late Student Transfer Process: April 22 - 30, 2010

No transfers for students within School District 61 will take place between March 1 and April 21. For SD#61 students, after Feb 26, DO NOT send a Student Transfer form to the District Office. From April 22-30, you must contact the administration at your current or pathway school. If approved by the District Office, we will be in touch to complete course programming. After April 30, you must contact the administration at your current or pathway school to discuss the transfer request before contacting or applying to Mount Doug.

Q: Should students applying for District Programs available at Mount Doug complete a Student Transfer Form?

Q. What if I miss the late Student Transfer process?

Students may still submit an application to attend Mount Doug. However, requests will be reviewed with school space and timetable limitations in mind.
